Geri Halliwell’s Wedding Dress
Geri Halliwell chose British wedding dress designer Phillipa Lepley for her wedding to Christian Horner at Woburn Abbey in Buckinghamshire. The couture gown, made from start to finish at the Phillipa Lepley atelier in Cheslea, featured a full silk duchess satin skirt with a hand worked French corded lace overlay, long sleeves, an elongated train and a beautiful silk tulle veil.
Geri’s wedding dress was perfectly designed and shaped to frame her petite silhouette. A discrete, hidden Phillipa Lepley corset was concealed under her torso accentuating her miniature waist, where there was a thin satin ivory belt. The show stopping train added a touch of fairy-tale drama.
The neckline on Geri’s dress was carefully designed to sit so that it softly swept across from one shoulder to the other, with undualting scalloped edges of lace between, showing her collar bone and elongating her neck.
The feature sheer lace sleeves were three-quarter length, matching the lace on the bodice and the skirt. Each motif of the French corded lace was appliquéd and embroidered together by Phillipa Lepley’s team of talented seamstresses with such love, care and precision. This intricate couture technique to lacework creates a seamless finish and effortless flow to the overall design.
Geri worked together with Phillipa on each and every specific, detailed element of her couture gown. The finished look was magical and captivating.
