Real Bride: Alys’s French Lace, Low Back Wedding Dress

Effortlessly romantic.

For her June garden wedding in Wales, Alys fell in love with the light, effortless feeling of a non-corseted, French corded lace Phillipa Lepley wedding dress.

With a bias-cut, slipper satin base, Alys’s dress skimmed over her shape, following the feminine contours of her body perfectly. The intricate overlay of French corded lace, created with inverted triangular tiering through the skirt, added a gentle fullness and undulation that gave a very bridal feel, but in a soft and romantic way.

Scalloped lace edge detailing at the necklines and cap sleeves further softened the look, contrasting to the dramatic, strong V front and low scooped back necklines.
Full of flow and movement, the tiering and clever symmetrical design featured through the lace of the skirt was skilfully composed and appliquéd in-house by the Phillipa Lepley atelier team. It is these unique elements that add a modern edge to this elegant and timeless lace wedding dress.

Alys completed her bridal look with a single tier, silk tulle fingertip veil, edged in complimenting corded French laces. Each Phillipa Lepley veil is a work of art in its own right, and Alys’s included hours upon hours of meticulous, skilled hand work – each individual lace motif bordering her veil was individually selected, shaped and positioned to create an organically ‘scalloped’ edge.

The exquisite detailing and considered handling of the lace of this dress are what Phillipa Lepley and her incredible team are renowned for, and means that this dress is completely beautiful from every angle.
