A Phillipa Lepley couture dress is created using the skilled craftsmanship of the specialist atelier team of fitters, pattern-cutters, seamstresses, embroiderers and finishers, all overseen by Phillipa herself in the London atelier.

Over a series of appointments with the client, the team work fastidiously to turn the initial design sketch into a stunning and unique gown.

Every couture dress beings with the meticulous taking of precise measurements from the client. From this, the first calico toile can be created. Through the Toile Fittings, the fit of the corset is moulded to the body and the lines of the dress are defined to compliment the body’s curves. Each detail is refined to the millimetre. Necklines drawn, adjustments pinned, changes checked and every decision approved by the client.

The Phillipa Lepley corset, custom made for every client, is the foundation of a Phillipa Lepley dress. The result of thirty years of fine tuning and expertise, Phillipa and her team have elevated corsetry to an art form. It enhances every bride’s figure, creating the most beautiful silhouette.

With the Toile Fittings completed, the dress can be cut in its actual fabrics and the Silk Fittings can commence. With each visit, the client will see their dress grow and evolve. Flowing Italian silks, the finest French laces and intricately designed hand embroideries are brought together in a culmination of precision, skill and creativity to create each bride’s dream couture dress.

Beautiful bespoke embellishment is a Phillipa Lepley design signature. With every piece designed in-house in our London atelier, the artisan team work closely with each bride, developing swatches, techniques and artworks to bring their dress and veil visions to life.

Designs are uniquely developed onto each client’s own shape. Every motif is considerately placed to not only create the organic flow and movement that Phillipa’s designs are renowned for, but also to perfectly compliment each individual bride’s silhouette.
